Glass Quality & Visual Defect Standard (ASTM C1036)

Highland Glass Products adheres strictly to the industry standards for flat glass quality established by ASTM International (Standard C1036). Under these federal and industry guidelines, a visual imperfection in the glass is only classified as a valid defect if it is visible under specific, standardized viewing conditions. To properly inspect glass for defects, the viewer must stand exactly 10 feet away, look straight-on at a 90-degree angle, and view the central 80% of the glass under normal daylight conditions (excluding direct sunlight). If a scratch, chip, bubble, or inclusion is not visible to the naked eye under these exact parameters, it is not considered a defect, and the glass is deemed fully acceptable and compliant with all industry manufacturing standards.

Warranty & Defect Coverage Limitations

In compliance with Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) regulations, Highland Glass Products provides a standard two-year (2-year) limited warranty covering our installation workmanship. This protects against defects arising directly from improper installation labor. This workmanship warranty explicitly does not cover damage resulting from owner neglect, structural settling, improper maintenance, vandalism, or severe weather events. Regarding the physical window units, we pass through the robust, long-term manufacturer warranties associated with your specific products, including the extensive coverages provided by our Western Windows and Anlin vinyl lines. If a manufacturing defect in the glass, vinyl, or hardware arises, coverage duration and remedies are dictated strictly by the original manufacturer’s warranty terms. Furthermore, in accordance with Arizona law (A.R.S. § 12-552), any claims regarding latent construction or installation defects are subject to the state's eight-year statute of repose.
